I recently came across another interesting freely available social networks dataset detailing the connections between publishing marketing scholars in marketing journals. This dataset was headed by one of my early years MBA professor – Jacob Goldenberg – and finally published as a paper titled “The Evolving Social Network of Marketing Scholars”. The dataset is freely available for download and interpretation on “Connectivity Data”.
Although data is somewhat limited and abstract there is potential in this dataset, if only for its longitudinal nature showing the evolution of the social networks. Off my head, I can think of several things that can be done with this type of data to answer some core questions in research regarding status, performance/survival (tricky, since no individual records), and changes in network structure.
