Academia & Research

MGTO.ORG - Introduction

Sharing and discussing ideas with others is part of what’s exciting about being in academia and doing research. We do that with our colleagues when we get together in classes, seminars, workshops or personal meetings, but that often only offers a small chance for truly developing new ideas and discussions over issues of interest and is surely somewhat restricted to the social network that we developed or belong to through academic ties.

Aside from conferences and papers, there are other ways of forming ideas and initiating a discussion. Some of you might be familiar with newsgroups, websites and blogs that promote academic discussion on the Internet. I especially like the work done with group academic blogs (examples – OrgThery, BizDeansTalk, Economic Sociology, etc.), and so, we’ve started MGTO.ORG where we hope to share some of what we’re involved with in the area of Management of Organizations and perhaps even get some of your feedback and thoughts on that.

Good luck.
